Hello All,  Grandma is going to take a little break from the blog.  Everything is fine and I'll be back soon.  I have a few things I need to catch up on that requires a little more time.  If something big comes up I will certainly let you all know.  God and I have some serious work to get done.

Love you all,

MAKING MEMORIES

What a nice gathering we had today to celebrate Grandpa and Kathy's birthdays.  We even got to meet Micah the newest member to the Grubb's family.  He was a very good puppy and cute as a button.  Looking forward to having him here next week.  LOVE

You have to love the picture of Grandpa in his new hat.  He looks pretty sharp.  LOVE

We wish Steve and Tracy a safe and happy trip to Manassas, Va.  They will be  touring the Lockheed Martin plant and visiting friends.  LOVE

The apostle John wrote: (1 John 4:7-8)
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Happy Birthday Kathy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHY
(The photo is the only one that allowed me to save as to our photo's) The picture is a recent one of Kathy and her daughter Tori.

MEMORIES

Let me see!  I think I should try and remember a memory of Kathy today.

I believe Kathy was the first one to ever dance during a mass at the Catholic Church.  She would stand in the isle and sway back and forth when there was music playing.  It's only fair that I tell you she was probably around three years old.  Was I a bad parent?  I would say yes because the people watched her instead of worshiping as they should have been.  But God's Word says:

Psalm 149:3  Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

READ

Friday, July15, 2011

Aunt Shirley saw an obit in the Cleveland PD and emailed us to see if that was their cousin's wife.

If you want to read something very interesting about Grandpa's family then go to www.cleveland.com and scroll down to the obituaries and look for SARAH HOLLISTER BELDEN.  She was married to Grandpa's cousin, Edward George Belden, b March 16, 1925 and d: March 31 1992 in Aurora.  I have that information from the report Dean Belden did for us.  Sarah also known as Sally and led a very interesting life.

Just received good news from Barbara Downing, Tracy's Mom, that she was able to have her chemo treatment today as planned.   She scheduled for another one next Friday.  That is answered prayer.

READ: The most direct source of a Christian's spiritual growth is the Bible.  It must be read regularly because it is our milk and strong meat (1Pet. 2:2;  Heb. 5: 12-14).  It tells us how to live (Ps.  119:105). It is God's word to us today.

1 Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

Hebrews 5: 12-14  In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someoneto teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again.  You need milk, not solid food!  Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.  But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Psalm 119: 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Evangelize

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Birthday celebrations for Kathy and Grandpa will be this Sunday, July 17, 2011  around 1 o'clock and  Pizza at 2 o'clock.  We decided on this weekend because the Grubb's family will be leaving on their vacation July 23rd.  Grandpa and I will be entertained by Micah during that time.  Don't tell anyone but we are looking forward to that week.

Let's see,  We have had Pray, Obey and Worship and tonight, are you ready for this? Evangelize.

The good news of the gospel is to be shared.  As we tell others what Christ has done for us, we will find ourselves growing by spiritual leaps and bounds (Mt 28:19-20)

Matthew 28: 19-20  (These are Jesus's Words)"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Worship

Wednesday July 13, 2011

I have some exciting news for Grandma.  I signed up for a bus trip, September 24th, to Chautauqua, NY for a large quilt show.  The speaker is Jinny Beyer and she is my absolute favorite quilter.  I'm hoping they get enough people for the bus trip otherwise it might get cancelled.

The other exciting news if you haven't heard already is the Grubbs family have a new addition to their household.  His name is Micah and he is an adorable lab/boxer mix.  Can't wait to meet him.

So far we had Pray and Obey and tonight it will be Worship.  Stay with me on this.

As Christians, our devotion to God is to be continuous.  Privately, we should worship God in our thoughts and prayers (Ps. 34:1).  Publicly, we should unite with fellow believers in a local assembly to bring praise to God (Ps. 111:1; Heb. 10: 24-25).

Psalm 34:1I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.

Psalm 111:1I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

Hebrews 10: 24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing , but let us encourage one another---and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

OBEY

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

All I can say tonight is " I'm very blessed with a loving family and friends.  I thank God for everything the bad and the good.  You say how can I thank Him for the bad?  He carries me through those times with His Word and love of family and friends."

I ask for all of us the remember Tracy's Mom, Barbara Downing as she goes through a very difficult time with her health.  I am praying she will be strong enough to have her next treatment which comes up on the 15th.

MEMORIES
(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

Yesterday was PRAYand today will be OBEY.
In John chapter 14, Jesus said that our obedience to His commands is an indicator of our love for Him (vs. 15,21,23). We can't do it in our own strength, however, That's one of the reasons He gave us the Holy Spirit (vs.. 16-17).  As we yield to Him, the Spirit provides the power to walk in obedience (Gal. 5:16-25).

vs..15 If you love me, you will obey what I command.

vs..21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.  He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

v16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever---

v17 The Spirit of truth, The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.  But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Galatians 5: 16-25  So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.  For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.  They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.  But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft;hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like.  I warn you as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.  Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

WHEN I WAS NOT LED BY THE SPIRIT GRANDMA WAS UNDER THE SINFUL NATURE.  IT'S PRETTY HARD TO READ BUT THE TRUTH NEEDS TO BE SPOKEN.

PRAY

Monday, July 11, 2011

Today I worked a funeral dinner at our church.  The deceased was a young 23 year old women who recently just became engaged.  She and her fiancĂ© were both killed in a car accident last week.  There are no boundaries with age on death.

Grandpa and I watched "Secrets Of Seal Team 6" last night on the discovery channel.  It was amazing and informative and you might say a little to much informative.  Denny was part of the commentary and did a good job I might add.  If you missed it Grandpa looked ahead and it will be shown again on Thursday, July 14, 9 p.m. Eastern time and again at 11 o'clock on the discovery channel.

PRAY.  Christians who want to grow, communicate with God through prayer.  They express their gratitude to Him, confess their sins, and come to Him with their requests for themselves and for others.  God promises to be near to all who come to Him in prayer.

Psalm 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

The picture is of Grandma when I chose to be Baptized in 1986.  The location was at The Paul's house when they lived back behind the funeral home.  Hank Paul took the picture.  I was submerged under water signifying:

Romans 6:3,4  Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were Baptized into his death?  We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

I just heard today in church that Baptism is an outward sign of inward grace.

Good News

July 9, 2011

Well today my eleven year old Amish neighbor girl came before 8 o'clock this morning to wash our car and our neighbor, Dawn's car.  I think she was having to much fun.  She asked if she could play the radio and put on some country tunes.  Of course who doesn't like to have music when there working.  The best part was when Dawn came over with her car, Dawn held up an earring to show Cindy and told her that she lost an earring just like this one and if she found it in her car there would be a bonus for her.  Well wouldn't you know Cindy came in the front door with a big smile and an earring in her hand.  I'm not quite sure if Cindy did as good of job as she did the last time but Grandpa reminded me she is eleven years old.  She was so excited to have a job and earn a few dollars.  She will wash the car every other Saturday.

(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

I believe I ended yesterday with I wanted more information on what Jesus did for me.  This information I'm going to give you comes from a Discovery Series Bible Study.

The word gospel means "good news."  The gospel of Christ is that God Himself loved us enough to send His own Son into this world to rescue us from ourselves and our sin (John 1:1-4; 3:16)  That is the Book of John, Chapter one, verses one thru four; and chapter three, verse 16.

The good news is that Jesus lived the quality of life that God intended for us to live.  Without flaw.  He loved His heavenly Father with all of His heart, soul, and mind.  Without fail, He showed us what it means to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Then , to solve the problem of our lost relationship with His Father, Jesus died in our place, offering Himself as a perfect sacrifice to pay the price of sin.  Because He was not only man but God our Creator as well (John 1:1-14).  His death was of infinite value.  When He rose from the dead, He proved that He had died in our place to pay the price of all sin--past, present, and future.  With one sacrifice, He paid for the least--and the worst --of our sin.
THIS IS WHAT JESUS DID FOR ME AND FOR YOU

Tomorrow will be what we need to do.

New Church

Friday, July 8, 2011

Well today I went to the beauty shop, (I think that is funny they call it a beauty shop) and had my hair dresser do my hair lighter.  When I came home the first thing Grandpa said was "Oh! that looks nice."  That's all that mattered because he is the one who has to see it all the time.

MEMORIES
(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

Tim and Kathy took me to church where Kathy's friend, Wendy Paul, went.  (side note) I saw Wendy today at the beauty shop and of course she did look beautiful.

I started to attend Faith Church which was very different then the Catholic Mass I would go to.  The first thing that really impressed me was people stood up and started sharing how Jesus Came Into Their Lives.  I had never really heard testimonies before.  Faith Church was without a Pastor at the time because the previous Pastor became Superintendent of the District.  It was the people of the church who welcomed me with opened arms.  I would not say anything bad about the Catholic Church only it was a different kind of worship. It was a difficult decision to leave the Catholic Church but that is when I realized I had a strong desire to learn "God's Word".  I had really never learned about all the children's stories in the bible so what better way to learn is by teaching two and three year olds bible stories.

I remember before Tim and Kathy got married, Tim's Mom, Louise, had Kathy and I over to her house and we had a bible study there.  I just remember Kathy and I had lots of questions and Louise was very patient with us during the study.  I was thirsty, thirsty, thirsty for more information about Jesus and what he did for me.

My First Study Bible

Thursday, July 7, 2011

Another beautiful day in Garrettsville.  Where else may one go to get perfect weather.  No answer required.

MEMORIES
(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

In 1984 Tim and Kathy were both in college at Hiram.  Kathy was taking a religion class  and like me knew very little about the Bible.  Tim was brought up in a home that read, studied and lived the Bible teachings.  Tim helped Kathy with her studies and homework.  They would come to the house and study together and I had the privilege of watching and learning right along with Kathy.  I was amazed how much Tim knew about the Bible.  Again my interest was revived and I wanted to know more.  On November 6, 1984 Tim and Kathy gave me a gift of my first Ryrie Study Bible.  I was so excited to have received it.  I still have it and use it to this day.  I also have purchased many other Bibles along the way but there is nothing like receiving that first Study Bible.

God is Good because I have a hard time memorizing anything so all these important events happen on my birthdays.  Another important event which happened on my birthday in 1987 was Alyssa and Christopher became Belden's and Grandpa and I became Grandparents.  :))

Now that I had my Study Bible it was important I attend a Bible teaching church where I could really grow and learn in THE WORD OF GOD.

Happy Anniversary Tim and Kathy

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TIM AND KATHY!  Twenty six years goes by pretty fast.  Another twenty six years and you will be married as long as we have. :)

MEMORIES
(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

I continue to see new vocabulary in my search for knowing God in His Word.  Another word that stands out to me and is extremely important in my walk with Christ is Repentance.

In Catholicism I learned confession and penance.  I went to a priest and confessed my sins to him and he gave me penance by saying so many Hail Mary's and Our Father's.  Then I was good to go till next time.  This may seem silly but when I was a kid I use to make up sins just to have something to say when I went to confession.  I didn't really know the seriousness of sin.

It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven because of who He is and because of who we are.  God is loving and just, but He is also holy.  He cannot have fellowship with us on a personal level because our sinful nature makes us incompatible with God's holiness.  It is Jesus who paid for my sins and made it possible for me to have this personal relationship with God.  I will elaborate on that more in a future post.

The word Repentance means to turn ones life around and not sin against God and another person if involved.  Consider the act of repentance.  Confessing my sins before God communicates something God already knows.  Yet somehow the act of confession binds the relationship and allows a closeness that could not otherwise exist.  I make myself vulnerable and dependent, bringing God and me together.  The same kind of intimacy happens when (all too rarely)  I apologize to Grandpa for something we both know about.  I do not bring him information, I bring him my heart, my humbled self.

New Language

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Last Saturday our Amish little girl wasn't able to come over to our house but today her Mom was going to a funeral and little Cindy came over here.  I had a ball with her.  We did a little sewing together, went to the library and ate at McDonalds.  She took out a DVD from the Library of Hanna Montana and watched it when we came home.  It was fun for both of us.  Grandpa was driving her sisters to and from their jobs today so he was busy working.

MEMORIES
(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

Another term that came up at the Bible Study was Personal Relationship.  I found it good to ask questions when I wasn't sure of the meaning.  The Bible doesn't refer to a personal relationship with God.  Not in those exact words.  But it does show the importance of learning to know, love, and trust a very personal God.  While you won't find the words personal relationship in the Bible, the idea is everywhere.

A relationship means more than knowing of or about someone.  We might say that we know the governor of New York.  But if the chief officer of that state can't pick us out of a crowd, if we can't get access to him, or if he has never shared out thoughts, feelings, and decisions, then we are claiming a friendship we don't really have.

I can share my deepest thoughts, cares and concerns, and love with God.  When I pray it's just like he is sitting there right next to me listening and wanting to help me if I allow Him too.

I mention these terms because they were new to me when I first started seeking God in THE WORD OF GOD.

Welcome home Tori!  We can only imagine how good the shower and bed felt when you got home.  I thank God for your safe trip.

MEMORIES
(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

Remember it was on my 42nd birthday, Nov. 6, 1983, when I prayed with Pat.

Pat Sallee invited me to her home for a Bible Study.  I had never went to a Bible Study before and was a little nervous of what to expect.  Were they going to ask me questions I didn't understand?  When I arrived there were just a few people there and we sat around her dining room table.  I knew very little about the Bible so I listened carefully and hoped nobody would ask me anything.  To be truthful I don't remember what book in the bible they were studying but Pat was so nice and very patient with me as I started asking the questions.

There was a new vocabulary being spoken I didn't quite understand.  The one that comes to mind was Born Again.
How could one be Born Again?  I didn't feel to bad not knowing when I found out a very intelligent man by the name of Nicodemus didn't know either. In the book of John, Chapter 3, verse 3,  Jesus said,"I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

Jesus said "flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.  You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again.  The wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.  So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.

Hmmmm!  I have a spirit which I know is the life in me.  Am I willing to surrender my spirit for the Spirit of Jesus?  WOW!  That is pretty serious stuff.  I need to know more.

My Friend Pat

Sunday, July 3, 2011

We had a wonderful surprise phone call from my cousin Claudia this morning wanting to know if we would be home this afternoon that she would like to come over and bring her Mom and Dad. (Aunt Sue and Uncle Sammy).  Claudia is here from Georgia visiting her parents.  We had a real nice visit with them.  Uncle Sammy and Aunt Sue are my only living Aunt and Uncle.  On July 12th they will be married 64 years.

MEMORIES

Yesterday I introduced you to a co-worker, Pat Sallee.  I admire Pat for who she was as a person, co-worker and friend.  Pat and I would talk about our beliefs and one day after work which just so happened to be my birthday, Pat came back in my office and asked me about Jesus.

Yes, I knew who Jesus was after all I went to church and learned the Sacraments and was active in my church.  But do you really know what Jesus did for you, Pat asked?  Yes, I knew he died on the cross and rose from the dead.  Pat asked if I would die that day would I go to heaven?  Well, I hope so I said.  Pat then said would you like to know for sure that you would go to heaven.  Yes, of course!  Pat said I needed to ask God for forgiveness of my sins and ask Jesus to come into my heart.  I sure didn't know what she was talking about because I went to confession and Holy Communion but I thought what would it hurt to do this.  I really didn't understand what she was saying so she asked if I would like her to pray and I follow.  I said yes.  We prayed and she gave me a hug.  Pat asked if I would like to come to her home for a bible study she was having.  A BIBLE STUDY!  Wasn't I taught that the BIBLE was the WORD OF GOD?  Now she really had my attention.  I really did want to know more about the bible.

The 1970s

Saturday, July 2, 2011

This is an early post today because we have Cindy, our 11 year old Amish girl, coming to stay with us this evening.  Her Mother's cousin passed away and is going to the viewing tonight.

MEMORIES
(How Jesus Came Into My Life)

In the early 1970s I worked at a place called 31 Inc.  We made tire patches and my job was to run the presses or the extruder.  This job was at the top of the list as the worst job I ever had.  Factory talk is definitely different then any other job I had.  God was good because the business moved to New Comers Town, OH and I was laid off.

I worked at Doc's restaurant in Garrettsville and opened up for breakfast and worked the lunch hour.  I also worked part time at McCullough's meat market wrapping freezer meat.  I have to say I learned a lot about different cuts of meat.

It was 1975 when I was hired part time at Hiram College as a housekeeper.  I kept the meat market job till I was hired full time as a housekeeper.  I worked two years as housekeeper then applied for the Cashier's job at the Business Office.  Worked two years as Cashier then applied for the Accounts Payable Job in the same office and that is where I worked till 1990.

Working at the Business Office was life changing for me.  There was one person who worked as Cashier in the Business Office that really made an impression on me.  Her name is Pat Sallee.  She was kind, friendly and very intelligent.  There was something about her that was different then the rest of us.  She didn't take part in telling off colored jokes or use unladylike language.  I really respected her as a person and wanted to know more about her.

GROWING YEARS 2

Friday, July 1, 2011

This morning we had a wonderful breakfast at Bob Evans with Tim and Kathy.   It was great to catch up what's going on with the Grubb's family.  Tim and Kyle are in training to run a marathon this Fall.  Tim looks in great shape and could probably run that marathon today.  I think Kathy might be in training for she looked in pretty darn good shape also.  It was fun and I hope we can do that again soon.

I was disappointed that Bob Evans took the waffle off their menu.  I had my appetite all set for a waffle with strawberry topping.  I just now got off the phone from leaving a message at the Corporate Office.

John became the first young person to become a lay reader during the mass.  "O" Halo

Kathy became the first person to get reprimanded for talking during CCD class.  Mr. Furillo was the teacher who sent her out of the class room.  Kathy came home and was told she would not get the kitty we promised her till she apologized to Mr. Furillo and the class.  ") :"   Kathy got her kitty.

I believe I left off yesterday with:  I was taught that The Holy Bible Is The Word Of God.  Why didn't I know anything about the Holy Bible?  There were no classes being offered at that time.  I tried to read the bible I had to the kids and started with Genesis the first book.   I couldn't pronounce some of the names so we made up names for them.  This was not good and soon the Bible got laid aside.
