Our Granddaughter Alyssa's Family

Today the Rades family ventured on to their next destination. But before they left Alyssa fixed Grandma and Grandpa's computer. She went right to the correct file and did a SEEK and FIND to have the computer start up with just a couple of needed files. Thank you Alyssa!!!

Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed having Alyssa, Bob, Kiersten and Susie stay with us for a couple of days. It was nice not to hurry or rush and just enjoy each others company. I believe they accomplished all they wanted to do while here in Ohio and now they are off to Niagara Falls, NY.

If...thou shalt SEEK the Lord thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou SEEK Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Deuteronomy 4:29

Never let me stray from Your sight, Father. I long to be near You. Help me to serve You with all my heart, soul, and mind. Amen.

STRENGTH

Saturday, August 28, 2010

It's amazing how much one can get done when you let go and let God. I had a list of things I wanted to accomplish today and by the grace of God and His STRENGTH everything went very smooth and I had more energy then I ever thought I could have.

We had a fantastic time last night over at John and Deb's. Erica made the trip home with her house mate to enjoy a wonderful meal. The Bar B Que' ribs were mouth watering good and we had a salad along with the most incredible muffins you could ever want. The football game was exciting and the home team won. It was pretty neat seeing Michael in his new band uniform marching to the beat of his drum. We could not have asked for better weather. The night was clear, warm and no bugs.

For this day is holy unto our Lord...for the joy of the Lord is Your STRENGTH.

Nehemiah 8:10

Let my heart be filled with joy today, as I meditate on Your goodness. Amen.

PHONES

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Lot of shopping today and among our purchases were new telephones. We had to buy ANOTHER phone with numbers and letters we can read. I'm letting you know because we have a pre-recorded out going message on the answering machine. Thought you might want to know so you don't think you dialed the wrong number.

Owe no man any thing, but to love one ANOTHER; for he that loveth ANOTHER hath fulfilled the law.

Romans 13:8

Help me to love others as I love myself, doing not wrong to anyone. Amen.

Bonus Time

Today I RECEIVED a bonus of time. My friend Kathryn and I were planning on doing some visiting this afternoon. The person we had planned on seeing was being released today from the nursing home and it was also her 91st birthday. We decided to postpne today's visit. This gave me the afternoon on finishing up some projects I wanted to do.

We are excited about Alyssa and her family coming in this weekend. It's been at least 8 years since she has been here with us. I know the time will be short but it will be sweet and thank God for cameras.

Bobby, Alyssa and Kiersten have a safe and enjoyable trip as you venture out on your well deserved vacation. Oh, Yes! Don't know the dog's name but I bet he is even looking forward to a LONG car ride. :)

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Proverbs 19:20

Father, help me to be open to Your counsel and instruction, as I LONG for Wisdom. Amen

SUFFERED

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Another one of Grandpa's friends passed on. We just came from the calling hours at the funeral home. His name was Vance Dean and his sons names are Chad, Brad, Trevor and Jared. Jared passed on a few years ago from a hard life on drugs. Hope this isn't to much information but I thought maybe John, Steve or Kathy might have known one of the sons. From the word we got tonight was Vance had lung cancer and had been suffering for some time. He finally refused his treatments, stopped taking his meds, stopped eating and went out and bought 12 cigars and smoked them in 2 days. He had SUFFERED long enough.

Charity SUFFERETH long, and is kind... rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

1 Corinthians 13:4,6-8

Lord, give me a loving heart today as I practice patience, kindness, and truthfulness. Amen.

LEARNED CONTENTMENT

Monday, August 23, 2010]

I was wondering what I was going to write this evening and boy did God lay out a plan for me. It fits right in with our verse and prayer.

The other day I started sewing a small wall hanging to use as a gift for a friend. The block was the log cabin. Easy right?? Well it went OK the first day I worked on it and when I went in today to finish it everything went hay wire. First I sewed the strip on the wrong side, tore it out. Sewed it back on but on the wrong side of the block, tore it out. Had to replace the strip with different fabric. So on the hunt I went. I can't tell you how many boxes of fabric I went through just to find one little piece that looked like the one I ruined. But on a happy note I found a whole box of batting that I forgot I had. Yippee!!!!. After all that work I needed comfort food so we had our afternoon coffee break and some zucchini bread. I took two pieces since I worked so hard. I finally finished the block with yet a few more unsewing problems. I HAVE LEARNED, IN WHATSOEVER STATE I AM, THERE-WITH TO BE CONTENT.

I HAVE LEARNED, IN WHATSOEVER STATE I AM, THERE TO BE CONTENT. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Philippians 4:11,13

Teach me to be content with what I have, whether in plenty or in want. Amen

Second place went to Kyle's team. Which she graded OK.

and last place according to our judge Tori was a disaster, Tori's team.

Better luck next year teams:

This is going to be an ACTIVE week with lots going on and I hope to share it with you each day.

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God... Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.

Sing Along

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Sing along with me > /Someone's in the kitchen with Grandma, Someone's in the kitchen I know, Someone's in the kitchen with Grandma, strumming on the old banjo. :) < I bet you sounded real good.

TODAY was a kitchen day with freezing tomatoes and making zucchini bread. I even tried the recipe of mac and cheese with tomatoes on top for supper. The rest of the day in the kitchen was cleaning up after myself.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and TODAY and for ever.

Hebrews 13:8

In a changing world, I give You thanks for Your Word that never changes. Amen.

Future Doctor

I received a phone call from Kathy asking if I would like to go with them to see Kyle receive his white coat in a ceremony at University of Toledo. Of course I wanted to go and that I did. We left this morning around 10 o'clock and made it there before the ceremony began at 1 o'clock. It was very impressive to see the processional of incoming students come up on the stage and sit where their white coat was draped on the back of the chair. As each name was called the student handed their coat to the presenter that put the white coat on them. It was all very impressive. There was a reception following the ceremony where we could meet with the future doctors. We went to the house where Kyle is living with two other students. I was very impressed with the charming house they have to live in. They are at the end of the street where they have the QUIETNESS that will help in their studies.

He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Psalm 23:2-3

Lord, in QUIETNESS and strength may I trust in You when the times are dark and I feel no joy. How thankful I am for Your goodness and love. Amen.

beep, beep

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Today Grandpa took his truck to Aurora Chrysler to have it under coated. They gave us a WHITE, 2007, pt cruiser as a loaner. After getting out of the truck and crawling into the pt cruiser I have only one thing to say. beep, beep.

Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as WHITE as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Isaiah 1:18

Heavenly Father, may the gentle falling of fresh snow be a reminder to me of what You can do in my life. Amen.

This is all there is now in the garden and boy! are they good.

GOOD REASON

Friday, August 13, 2010

Love those coupons! Grandpa took me to McDs for supper. We had two Angus burgers, French fries, a root beer drink all for 5 bucks. I would say that's a good REASON to go out for supper. Of course we came home and made some coffee and had our ice cream. Oh yes, we bought 4 half gallons of ice cream because IGA had it on sale for $2.99 a half gallon. You got to LOVE those sales.

Today was a catch up day for me. It feels good to get done those chores that get put off because of other things.

Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a REASON of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

1 Peter 3:15

Lord, at times I find it so difficult to communicate Your LOVE to others. Help me to speak freely to others of what is most precious to me. Amen.

TOGETHER

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Today Grandpa and I worked TOGETHER complimenting each others schedule. We did our errands this morning and came home in time for our first coffee break. I went swimming and Grandpa fixed his own lunch. When I got home I had my lunch and of course our second coffee break. Grandpa's skills are figuring out problems and he did just that. This first one was with the computer and the second one was a mistake made by one of our vendors. Like I said before it's a good thing you got your brains from Grandpa.

Wherefore comfort yourselves TOGETHER, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Normal Day

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Today was pretty much back to normal. Grandpa and I managed to get our 2 coffee breaks in and I was able to go swimming and get my nap today. Feeling refreshed and ready to work on a quilt this evening. When Grandpa did his Amish run this morning I was able to have my quiet time with the Lord in prayer and bible reading. It was so wonderful that I wish all could experience this wonderful union. This precious time prepared me to surrender my self to God and do His WORK this day.

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good WORK, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Colossians 1:10

Lord, I give You my hands and my heart---make me heart willing and my hands ready to do Your will. Amen.

A Privilege

Monday, August 9, 2010

Today I had the privilege of fulfilling today's verse. We had the funeral luncheon at our church for the 4 year old boy who shot himself. It was a very emotional day for family and friends. I took the two and four year olds in my Sunday school room and entertained them while family and friends ate and fellowshipped together. I think the mother's appreciated it as this evening my Pastor's wife brought over one of the flower arrangements that the family wanted to say THANK you with. I was the one that was blessed by being able to help.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving THANKS to God and the Father by Him.

Colossians 3:17

Lord, help me to live in a way pleasing to You--loving others and fulfilling my potential. Amen.

POSTING for a friend of a friend...her 22 month old son shot himself in the

chest with a brad nailer, it went in his heart, he is in critical

condition not doing good, neither is mom~ please start a prayer chain ♥

My friend Kathryn who teaches our ladies bible study wanted a summer get together for just fun and games and good eating. She arranged the whole thing but what she didn't know was that we surprised her with cake and ice cream along with Appreciation thank you cards from each of us for her teaching . It was a JOY to see how surprised she was. Her birthday is next week and she will be 91. She was trying to avoid recognition for her birthday so we were stinkers and made it an appreciation day.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me...Restore unto me the JOY of thy salvation.

Psalm 51:10,12

Merciful God, fill me with clean thoughts and right desires, for I want to obey You. Please Lord make your presence known to this family with the 22 month old son. Give them your peace and gentle care while this child heals. Amen

Short Again

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

I have one REQUEST to make and that is please forgive me for making this short again as I just looked at the calendar and Grandpa has an early run tomorrow morning. Run not like in running but run like in driving our Amish girl to her job in Aurora.

But in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your REQUESTS be made known unto God. And the peace of God...shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Anna Jane Raresheid

Sunday, August 1, 2010

My HEART is heavy because I just received a phone call that a very good friend of mine has passed away. Her name is Anna Jane Raresheid and she had Alzheimer's. Her disease took her very quickly which is a blessing for her and the family. I have the comfort of knowing Anna Jane loved Jesus and SERVED Him while she was here on earth.

Fear the Lord, and SERVE Him in truth with all your HEART: for consider how great things He hath done for you.

1 Samuel 12:24

Lord, help me to speak the truth and allow the opportunity to share the gospel with someone today. Amen
