Interesting Morning

This morning Grandpa and I went to Middlefield to shop at Walmart and Giant Eagle. Wellllllll! While we were shopping in Walmart the power went out and everyone had to check out while they still had a little power. We decided to go to Giant Eagle, (Big Sale on Coffee) and they were without power also so we hurried into the store and grabbed our coffee and checked out. The traffic lights weren't working either. We then went on to Middlefield Cheese and they DID have power. We love their Swiss Cheese and Novelty ones. They also have a card that gets punched for every $2.00 dollars that is spent. We filled up one card so now we can get a pound of Baby Swiss Cheese. That was a good thing. We came home and looked at our cash register slip from Giant Eagle and notice we were charged for purchasing 5 coffees when we only received 4. Grandpa said to call the customer service which I did and now they are sending us a gift card for $10.00. The coffee was on sale for $5.88. I would say it was an interesting and profitable morning.

Visiting

I wish I could put feelings into words. Today my 90 year old friend, Kathryn, and I went to visit an elderly couple, Norm, 89 and Helen 87. Norm is very hard of hearing but could see without glasses and Helen is just the tinyest and peppiest lady you would ever want to meet. Why did we go see them? Norm has a heart condition and very limited to what he can do and Helen is his caregiver. What I witnessed is a perfect marriage where the husband upholds his wife and the wife a perfect helpmate. We went to visit them to see if there was anything we could do for them or if there were any needs and I have to say we were the ones that walked away with a blessing. I am so thankful to know this wonderful Christian couple.

Cousin Claudia

Today we had a wonderful visit with my cousin Claudia. Claudia rode her Harley from Atlanta, GA to Ohio last Friday. We are always pleased to see her. Claudia was the first female motorcycle officer in Pompano Beach, FL in 1994. She went on to become a detective and then a Sargent in Broward County Florida. Claudia is currently working for a National Insurance Co. in GA. We are proud of her accomplishments.

Grandpa's Birthday

Yesterday, July 25Th, was Grandpa's birthday. John, Deb, Erica, Michael, Tim, Kathy, Kasey and Tori all came to celebrate Grandpa's birthday. Kyle, our grandson, was unable to come because of work. Steve, our son from MN, faithfully calls on Sunday's and special days. Grandpa enjoyed sharing with Steve family interest. All in all we had a good time and Grandpa started a new year with a smile.

Taken

Early this morning around 3 a.m. Grandpa woke up and saw 2 police cars in our next door neighbor's driveway. Our next door neighbors Dawn and Chris have a landscaping business. Someone came during the night and stoled Chris's truck and 25' trailer with all his equipment in it. Dawn heard the truck leaving and said to Chris that sounds like your truck. Sure enough it was. They have 3 BIG dogs that didn't even bark because they know the sound of Chris's truck so they wagged their tails thinking he was coming home. The police were right on it but whoever it was, was long gone. It's hard to believe anything like that would happen around here since we live in an Amish community. I guess you can never be to careful. Grandpa went out to lock his truck after he heard the news. I told Grandpa no one would want his rusted old truck. I'm thinking I should put a sign on it saying free.

Disaster

Our neighbors graciously gave us some zucchini and Grandma made zucchini bread today. It wasn't pretty. When I went to take it out of the pan it stuck to the bottom. Now I have patchwork zucchini bread. Hopefully it will taste better then it looks. Also for supper I am making Grandpa's favorite homemade potato soup. This is not good for someone who has a high cholesterol problems. I can feel my arteries putting life jackets on and ready to bail out before I have a bowl. What's a Grandma to do???? All and all I'm still Happy. :)

Happy Birthday Fran

Today we went to lunch at the Puffer Belly in Kent to celebrate Fran's birthday. Fran is seated to the right of Grandma. Friends Becky seated at the table and Dora standing all enjoyed a wonderful lunch. We stayed probably way to long because the waitress and other employees said "Have a good day ladies" a few times which was a clue we might have hung around to long but what the heck it was Fran's birthday celebration and we were enjoying each others company. When we left we stopped in one of our favorite stores called Gabriel's. I'm not saying all I bought but I had a good time. Next birthday is Becky's in September. Can't wait!

Faith is not believing that God can, but it is
believing that God will.

and we can tell others that salvation is ours,
for there is no question that he will do
what he says."

Akron Aero's Ballgame

What a wonderful evening Grandpa and I had last night at the Akron Aero's Baseball game. Our granddaughter, Tori, sang the National Anthem to start the evening off. The first picture is of Tori and her friend, Kristen. Our grandson Michael is the second picture and he was pretty happy because he drove to the ballgame with his Dad, our son, John. He is hoping to get his drivers license on the 21st of July. The third picture is of the players which was taken on a perfectly beautiful evening. The Akron Aero's won their ballgame 6 to 4 against the Bowie Baysox. And to end a fantastic night was the fireworks display after the game. All Grandma could say is "Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!"

Doctor's visit

Well today was another doctor's appointment. It seems like every 3 months we are back in the office. Grandpa had a good report but they are still watching his glucose pretty close. No pills for diabetes yet.

Grandma's blood work report was excellent except for the cholesterol which they determined is a hereditary factor. Trying a new pill for that and another blood work and office visit in 3 months.

Grandpa and I feel good and are counting our blessings.

I am so blessed to be able to teach a Sunday School class. This morning I had 3 girls starting with the little girl with the pink hat her name is Sarah. The second little girl is just new to our class and her name is Kayla. The third little girl is Maria and she is 6. She will move up to a new class in September. Mandy and Paul were unable to make it this morning. What a joy it is to be able to tell and show them how much God loves them.

Saturday

Today looks like it could be fun. Grandpa and I just finished a breakfast of pancakes and bacon with lots of coffee. I don't know why but we seem to have pancakes every Saturday. I put Rhubarb sauce on mine. I just can't seem to get enough Rhubarb.

This afternoon we have a graduation openhouse and following that we are off to celebrate our daughter's birthday.

So far that's the plan for today but we shall see what the Lord has planned for us.

A message for Erica

Erica, I tried to leave a comment on your blog but had trouble with the word verification. What I wanted to say was:
Glad you like your job. It sounds like you work with some fun people.
I can't wait to see the picture of you and your boss.

Anything that makes you pray, is a blessing.

"Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will
deliver you, and you will honor me."
Psalm 50:15

Today I watched the funeral service for Michael Jackson on TV. I have to say I was never a big fan but I was moved by those who knew him and loved him.

I am back on facebook and looking forward to hearing from family and friends.

Today we had donut day in the neighborhood. Always nice to see and visit with neighbors. Most all neighbors come because if they don't they might be the topic of conversation. :)

I met a sweet lady today who is taking care of her invalid husband. She is a saint in my eyes because all she does for him is with love in her heart. I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to meet and talk with her. They just moved to this area two months ago and don't know to many people. I'm sure they will have many friends real soon visiting them including myself.

Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!

Today at church became a reality on how God works when His people all come together. I am a member of a Christian Mission Alliance church in Windham, Ohio. We have approximately 100 to 125 people who attend the church. We had 16 people get baptized today. Their ages ran from 6 years to 80 years old. Part of our service was at the church and then we all drove out to the lake where Pastor baptized all of them. So much love and rejoicing in the Lord. I'm so thankful to be a child of God. Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!

Thankful for Independence Day

Patriotism consists of striving that our
country shall be righteous as well as strong.

Freedom

Freedom is like the air we breathe, we don't
miss it until deprived of it.

"You are free from the law, but that doesn't
mean you are free to do wrong. Live as those
who are free to do only God's will
at all times."
1 Peter 2:16

Yesterday, Wednesday, our son-in-law, Tim and grandson, Kyle came to give Grandpa a helping hand with the deck. Grandpa had a couple of other jobs lined up for them like taking the Aeriel off the roof and tipping our heavy dining room table over to put pads on the bottom of the legs. They worked from the time they came to when they left. We sure did appreciate their help. It's nice to have big strong men in our family.

Our neighbor Bob Maynard came over in the afternoon after seeing his doctor. Bob was recently diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus. Today he is having test to determine if the cancer has spread. We are keeping Bob in our prayers.
