Rice Pudding

I'm excited to try a new recipe of Slow Cooker Rice Pudding.  I've always loved rice pudding but never made it by crock pot.  It brings back childhood memories.  My granddaughter Erica received a crock pot for her birthday and found a recipe for Slow Cooker Rice Pudding.
Thank you Erica for your love of cooking.  I copied Erica's blog to share her recipe.

Rice Pudding!

Hello internet, I broke in my crock pot today with a very, very simple rice pudding recipe that is actually pretty delicious. I got this recipe from a Knack cookbook, which I love.

Ingredients:
1 cup long-grain white rice
1/2 cup golden raisins, if desired
3/4 cup sugar
3 cups milk
1 cup apple juice
1 pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup butter

Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in 3.5 quart slow cooker and stir well to combine.
2. Cover and cook on high for 2.5-3 hours or until rice is tender, stirring once during cooking time.
3. Turn off slow cooker and let stand 15 minutes. Add more milk if too thick, cook uncovered on high 20-30 minutes if too thin.

They recommend spraying the crock with a non-stick cooking spray. I didn't do that, but I'm thinking I should have. However, I stirred it more often and didn't have too much trouble with sticking. At the end, I added a little more milk.

It makes the house smell great, and tastes pretty good :)

Here's the rice pudding recipe I intend to try next time, if you're interested: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2009/03/crockpot-rice-pudding-recipe.html

Okay, bye internet!

New email address nightmare

This has been a very trying time  changing to my new email address.  I've heard others say it was so easy they couldn't believe it but  NO not me.  I'm now going through all my web sites that have my old email address and changing it to the new.  In some cases it is so secure it's like pulling teeth just to edit my address.  Sooooo, if you don't hear from me in awhile I'm out there someplace hung up on an address.

Happy Birthday Erica

HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY ERICA
Looking forward to Sunday when we celebrate our September Birthdays.
Erica is the daughter of John and Debbie.

I would like to share my experience I had today at my good friend Beth's house.  First of all Beth stopped in at our house before I came home from swimming and gave us a jar of natural pure honey from their own bee hives.  How special is that???

I have Beth's containers from previous goodies she has brought to our house and I keep forgetting to return them.  I don't like to return containers empty so I had just baked an apple cake to put in one of the containers.  I thought I would surprise her by returning the containers with a little treat in them.  Welllllllll! I pulled in her driveway and went up to the door and knocked.  RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUF, RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUF,  I thought sure I was a goner when I heard her two dogs Lucy and Lumpy jumping on the door to eat me.  Beth brought me in her back porch and shoved me out the back door and told me I would be safe there.  She let the dogs out of the kitchen and put them outside.  She then opened my door and told me to hurry up in before the dogs came around the back.  I almost made it except for Lucy managed to get in the door right after me.  With a lot of tugging and pushing Beth managed to get Lucy back outside.  I love dogs but they didn't know that.  I had a wonderful visit with Beth and of course she gave me more goodies to bring back with me.  I have now another container to return but Beth gave me her unlisted phone number so I could call her before coming and she will contain the dogs before they eat me.

ASK GOD

September 22, 2010

Spent this afternoon in the kitchen cooking and baking.  I decided not to rush around the last minute to make supper so having it almost done before 5 was pretty nice.  Grandpa wanted an apple cake so that went in the oven also.  The kitchen is cleaned up and I'm ready to settle down with my needles and thread.

I think it is so cool that we can ASK GOD for WISDOM and He gives it to us LIBERALLY....

If any of you lack WISDOM, let him ASK of GOD, that gives to all men LIBERALLY...and it shall be given him.
James 1:5

Thank you God for giving me WISDOM, especially when I don't know what to do.  Amen.

BEHOLD

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Wonderful surprises this day.  First a phone call from Erica which just tickled me pink.  It's always so nice to hear how our grandchildren are doing.
Second was a visit from My cousin Bob from Virginia.  Grandpa and him enjoyed reminiscing on school friends, teachers and their growing up years.  We are planning on getting together on Saturday before he leaves with Rosemarie, Chuck, Uncle Sammy and Aunt Sue and Donnie Wolfarth.  I'm sure there will be more reminiscing.
BEHOLD, the love that came out of this day.

BEHOLD, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.
1 John 3:1

Words cannot express the gratitude within my heart when I say Heavenly Father.  Amen.

New Doctor

Monday, September 13, 2010

A couple of weeks ago Grandpa and I received a letter from our doctor saying he was leaving his practice for personal health reasons. Today I went to see my new doctor in Mantua for a follow up visit for my blood work. He reminded me of Dr. Welby from TV. A very home town doctor with a little bit of a stutter. I liked him I guess because he took his time and he gave me a good exam. I'll see him again in December for a good physical which I never did get from my former doctor and I will ESTABLISH a good doctor patient relationship with him. I'm pretty sure Grandpa will like him to.

Now our Lord Jesus Christ...comfort your hearts, and ESTABLISH you in every good word and work.

11 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Lord Jesus, help me in everything I say and do today to be pleasing in Your sight. Amen.

AMEN

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Tonight the verse stands on it own. I say AMEN.

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Mark 12:30

Help me to follow your great commandment of loving You with my entire being. AMEN.

DILIGENTLY

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Well, Grandpa and I went downstairs this morning to DILIGENTLY face and accomplish to know and use our new washer. Yes, it did make music when we opened the lid and pressed power. We read the Manuel and followed the directions and stood there and watched it make sounds like filling up with water. We couldn't see what was going on inside and the lid locks after a few seconds getting started. After 3 loads of clothes I've decided it's a pretty good washing machine. We use less detergent, less water, less time and less electricity. When the cycle is complete the clothes are practically dry from spinning so it cut down on the dryer time. There is no agitator which makes it nice not to have our underclothes stretched beyond recognition. Yep! will keep it. But just in case we had a 5 year extended warranty put on it.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6

Even though I cannot see you Father, I believe you are God. Help me to DILIGENTLY see You today. Amen.

ACCEPTABLE

Monday, September 6, 2010

Today was a quiet day on the home front. Didn't get much sleep last night I guess because of to much party yesterday. :)  It was Chuck Chalker's 80th birthday.

Grandpa took it pretty easy today and I got a little sewing done which I enjoyed.

Being it is a holiday today it was ACCEPTABLE to just relax.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be ACCEPTABLE in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

Let me speak kind words, Lord, so that I may hear kind echoes. Amen.

PRESERVE

Saturday, September 4, 2010

I had a request to tell of an incident that happened on August 20th. The day was when Kyle received his white coat in a ceremony at UTM. Tim and Kathy so graciously asked me to go with them which I was honored. We stopped on the pike to get something to eat before we reached UTM. We all had the biggest hamburger on a toasted sesame bun that was deeeelicious. We arrived at UTM and had very good seats to view the ceremony. Kathy had her new camera and went to take Kyle's picture as he received his coat. She came back to her seat upset that she couldn't get a good picture and missed seeing him receive his coat. Pretty soon she looked at me and I saw her shoulders going up and down and a silent hahahahahahaha. I said WHAT??? She said I had a sesame seed on the end of my nose. Then there was more silent hahahahahaha from both of us.

Now after all was over they took Kyle to Olive Garden for a nice supper. I had the place of honor sitting right next to Kyle. They brought the big bowl of salad to our table and I saw the biggest juiciest hot pepper that I just had to have. I picked it out of the bowl and took a BIG bite out of it. Welllllllll poor Kyle didn't know what hit him as the juice from the pepper sprayed his clothes and arm. Kyle looked :{ He was a good sport but his arm was burning from the hot pepper juice. I'm sure this will be PRESERVED in Kyle's memory for a long time.

Let integrity and uprightness PRESERVE me; for I wait on Thee. For Thy loving-kindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in Thy truth.

Psalms 25:21; 26:3

Let me be a person of integrity today, walking in Your truth. Amen.

DON'T LIKE ME

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Sometimes I DON'T LIKE ME. I pulled another Pat today. You know how hard it is to open those darn pop cartons. It's the place where you push in the tab and pull open the carton. Well I couldn't push in the tab so I used a knife to poke it in. I guess I poked a little to hard because the next thing I knew I was being sprayed with foam and pop. Drip! Drip!

Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Matthew 5:44

Father, I pray for those who DON'T LIKE ME, that you would bless them and surround them with Your love. Amen.

CELEBRITY

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

I didn't think we would have anything to write about and then a black truck pulled in the yard with a celebrity who was interested in Grandpa's wood chipper. Grandpa came in the house and said you will never guess who stopped in to see about the chipper? Before I reveal who it was I will tell you the verse tonight was meant for me.

First cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the more out of thy brother's eye.

Matthew 7:5

Lord, help me to carefully avoid doing those things which disturb me in others. Amen.

Any guesses? Doug Pou

I have to admit I made a comment that wasn't appropriate and Grandpa in his wisdom CLEARLY recognized it wasn't a fair statement I made.

For those who do not know who Doug Pou is, do a search on his name.
