Quilt Show

Grandpa encouraged me to enter our quilt in the Streetsboro Quilt Show. We didn't know at the time that they changed their judging from individual categories to be judged on it's own merit. The quilts were beautiful and it was pretty scary being critic on General Appearance, Design and Workmanship: When I made this quilt I wasn't planning on having it judged but we entered anyway. I received a red ribbon which was considered second place. To be fair in telling this I should tell you there were 35 second placements. That was on Friday. When Grandpa and I went to pick up the quilt to bring home we were surprised to see another ribbon on it. The yellow ribbon was Vendor's Choice which was one of their special awards. Whopeeeee!!!! I couldn't believe it. Our quilt wasn't perfect and the judges were very good and did find my flaws which I knew were there. But that's OK. On Friday when Grandpa and I went to view all the quilts we were surprised to hear all the positive comments from the viewers on our quilt. That's because the majority of the quilts were machine quilted and our was all hand pieced and hand quilted. I thought you might like to see some of the quilts I was up against in the judging. They were magnificent.

  5. Howdy and congratulations on your wonderful and unique quilt!! It is unique because you done it all by hand. I sure wouldn't have the patience to do anything like that. I will just stick to teaching clog dancing. My mom and the both of us are doing fine. Sounds like the 2 of you are doing ok and keeping busy. Tell Ralph we said howdy.
Love ya, Carole & Pete White
