Attic/day 2

Boy! cleaning out boxes really takes you down memory lane. Today I went through my mother's old jewelry box which really didn't have anything valuable but the pictures that were in there I called treasures. Also in another box were letters my Dad wrote in 1943 when he was in the Navy along with photos during that time period. We also came across items that were from our children's school days. I know they will want to have them back. :) A few more suitcases, picture frames and miscellaneous items for yard sale or garbage. Little by little and our attic will get cleaned out. Hurrah!

The Attic

Today Grandpa and I went up in the attic for a look see. OH MY! After we got past all the little creatures part alive and part dead we started to bring items down to the main floor. Actually it was kind of fun. How many attics have a pair of roller skates from the 1050s? Lamps of unlimited number. They just keep coming down. Clothes that even the homeless would turn down. Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas cards that you don't even recognize who signed them. Anyway it's a start even though we've only touched maybe one sixteenth of it. This will be continued. It may go on and on and on.

Love letter

Dear God,
Each day is a waltz with you leading me.
I glide across my chores knowing you are holding me.
The music never ends as I know you will never end.
I'm lifted up above higher then any rocket can take me.
You whisper your words of endearment as I listen.
I close my eyes and dream heavenly thoughts.
I thank you for loving me.

Well, I just got home from the dentist and it wasn't as bad as I thought it could be. 45 minutes in the chair with a drill and jack hammer pounding in my mouth but I thank God for Novocain. I get to do the same thing next Friday all over again. Actually it was easier then the cleaning I had done last Thursday.

This morning was interesting. Our dog Annie is up in age and has continence problems. It was a matter of washing her up and cleaning her place where she sleeps. Grandpa asked if I would clean her up and I wanted to say I was busy but thought better of it. I put my old hooded sweatshirt jacket on and proceeded to wash Annie up outside. When I came in my sweatshirt was full of hair and odor. I took it downstairs to wash and searched the pockets before putting it in the washing machine. I found my two credit cards in the pocket from when I purchased gasoline. I could tell you I would have never thought in a million years to look for it there when I realized they were missing. I'm so thankful to have washed our Annie.

Sound Off

It's been pretty frustrating dealing with our phone company. Every time it rains or storms our phone lines get static and our private line becomes a party line. We have complained to our phone company many times but it's only fixed till the next rain storm. Brrrrr!

Now on the lighter side I can tell you that a friend from church, a mother of 3 small boys, takes the time to bake bread (without a bread machine) and most recently buttered horns ( which is a form of bread with frosting) and graciously gave Grandpa and I a half dozen of the buttered horns. It seems like my life is surrounded by family, good neighbors, friends and food. I am blessed beyond all comprehension.

Tomorrow it's the dreaded dentist appointment.
To Be continued.

hereafter

Are you interested in the hereafter?
If so, just remember the here
determines the after.

"Well done, good and faithful servant;
you were faithful over a few things,
I will make you ruler over many things.
Enter into the joy of your Lord."
Matthew 25:21

Back Home

Hey! I'm back home from my little trip. I tried putting the address in my GPS but for some reason it would not connect the zip code with the street address so I went with my instinct and Amish neighbors directions. In my mind I thought I would be in a big city but it turned out to be a very simple trip with minimal traffic and a speed limit of 45mph. That's about my speed if I'm in unfamiliar territory. PTL, Hallelujah! A real bonus was when I brought my neighbor home she had some dark chocolate cake with light fluffy chocolate frosting drizzled with chocolate syrup for Grandpa and I. All I can say is it was lip smacking good.

Today is (Fun)day

This morning our daughter, Kathy, granddaughter, Tori, Grandpa and I all went to our favorite place to visit. We were welcomed with a pleasant smile and given a most comfortable place to sit. We were offered coffee and had pleasant conversation. Can you guess where we went? BOB EVANS. They give us their best food and we give them our money. Fair exchange.

After we came home Grandma went for her swim at the health center and Grandpa cut up some logs. I really prefer my form of exercise over Grandpa's. Grandpa then taxied our Amish neighbors to a fabric shop. Tomorrow Grandma gets the privilege of taking our Amish neighbor to a place I've never been before. It's called the Wellness Center in Bainbridge, OH. I'm sure glad Grandpa bought us a GPS for Christmas. Grandma is not very good with directions. I was told I couldn't find my way out of a paper bag. I'll have to let you know tomorrow if I make it there and back OK. :)

Doctors Appointments

Grandpa and Grandma's day started out by NOT having our first cup of coffee. We were scheduled for blood draws that required fasting. I had to chuckle because when Grandpa went for his blood draw I heard him say to the technician "Don't hurt me". We treated ourselves to a Bob Evans breakfast after our heroic act of giving blood.

We came home and had an unexpected phone call from the hospital saying they wanted to schedule Grandpa for a complete bone scan that was ordered from Grandpa's Urologist. This was NOT related to the blood work he just had done.

This afternoon Grandma has a dentist appointment which I have no idea what's going to come out of that. I hope it's not my teeth. I must brush and floss now. To Be continued.

After on hour of sitting in the torch er elevator chair being x-rayed, picked, brushed and squirted I found out I need a root canal and crown. Ouch!

Tonight I'm going to watch a movie, P.S. I Love You, and eat ice cream.

The Trinity

Today I swam my first mile and to my surprise it was very easy. I've discovered that there are 3 important things that I have to do in order to accomplish the important things in life. Fur instance (Food, Water, Air) to survive. With swimming it's (Mental, physical and breathing coordination) to have endurance. And the most important for survival is (The Father, Son and Holy Spirit). We all need the Trinity!
Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Grandpa is into reading cookbooks and looking for new recipes to try. Saturday, Grandpa made butterscotch chocolate covered peanuts. You would not believe how good they are. In another day I'll be saying WERE. This morning we both ventured into making pineapple carrot bread. Another big hit to our taste buds and hips. It is sooooo wonderful to have my very best friend in the kitchen working along side me.

Big Surprise

Today as I was talking on the phone the doorbell rang. With phone in hand and still talking I went to the door. It was one of the happiest surprises I've had in a long time. My very good friend, Ruth and her three daughters, Elizabeth, Mattie and Grace came from PA to visit family and friends. I hung up the phone and I'm not sure if I even said good bye to whom I was talking to. There is so much to talk about with my good friend and so little time. She invited me to go into town with her to the local quilt shop. Of Course I went. Now I had my good friend and a quilt shop all in the same day. Even though it was a short visit it was like we've never been apart. Thank you Ruth and girls for making my day a happy one.

"I think I can"

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. "I CAN". Today I swam 100 laps at the pool.

Shopping

Grandpa and I had a fun shopping day this afternoon. One of my favorite places is the Kitchen Store in the Mall. Of course we came out with a few purchases. Can't wait to try them out. Went to Dick's Sporting Goods and purchased on sale the bottom half of a bathing suit. You are wondering about the top half I bet. Well! Grandma has to have some secrets. :) We checked out Kohls and walked out with a new pair of shoes. Yes! I paid for them with my Christmas gift card. Thank you Kathy. Stopped in Sears and bought Grandpa a new Jacket. Grandpa's Happy.

Mystery

Today I wrote how I would love to learn more on blogging. Welllll, when I went to view my 2 comments they totally disappeared and I was unable to read them. Go Figure! ????

Blogs

I decided to check some of the other blogs that had the same interest I have. I was amazed to see and hear music, pictures of all sorts and talent with using available techniques on the PC. I hope it's not to late for Grandma to learn some of these wonderful features.

So much to be thankful for. I thank God for bringing our son John home from his overseas trip. I thank God for our son Steve and wife Tracy made it home safe from their Mexico vacation. I thank God for ,our son-in-law, Tim's ear surgery went well without any problems. I thank God for our granddaughter, Tori, is feeling better after fighting a flu virus.

Last night I watched the movie The Bucket List. It made me LOL and wipe up tears.

Also, I'm reading a book called "The Shack". I really haven't reached an opinion on it yet. You have to have an imagination while your reading it.

This is a wonderful day. Yes it's raining but that's a sign of Spring. Happiness comes from within.

So much to be thankful for.

Funeral

Today was somber. Our neighbor passed away and the funeral was today. The one thing that was unusual during the wake was he was holding an oreo cookie and a can of Dr. Pepper. At the luncheon that followed they had an oreo toast in his honor. He was 86 years old and a good neighbor.

Wonderful 5 Days

Yes, It was great spending time with my grandchildren. Unfortunately Tori was brought home from school sick on Friday. I just want to tell you how good God is. Kyle was also home from Grove City College on a Spring Break. Kyle picked up Tori from school and also took her to the doctor. Brothers are the Best. The weather was cold and nasty so it was just fine to stay in to eat and watch movies. Tori is getting better. So much to be thankful for.

Another one of my grandchildren, Jessica, age 21 did the Polar Plunge on Saturday up in MN for the Special Olympics. The water temperature was 35 degrees. Brrrrrr! She sent us photos and a video clip of the actual plunge.
