NEW GLASSES

I just got my new glasses today and I either have to have my nose on the screen or sit across the room. I'm thinking I should have gotten trifocals. OO

Not Just Any Deer

Now that you met my friend, Beth, from my previous blog, I would like to share with you an unusual sight she saw yesterday.

I'm back from following him to the field and I wanted to tell you about the unusual sight I saw today. I was about to let the dogs out about 1:00 p.m. when I got home. I looked out the porch door and there in front of the big building heading for the road was a deer. Not just any deer. This one was very different. It's head, chest and front legs were brown, but the body and back legs and butt were snow white. No I haven't started drinking. I swear it's true. I told David while he wolfed down supper and he said he saw it one morning while he was out back turkey hunting. He didn't say anything because he thought he was seeing things.

Beth lives just around the corner from us so maybe her deer just might wonder our way.

I've encouraged Beth to start a blog because as a farmers wife I'm sure she has lots of fun and unusual stories to share. If she does you all will be the first to know it.

Beth's email

I am sharing this email sent to me by a very good friend. I hope you don't mind Beth.
We all should be blessed to have friends like Beth.

Dear Pat and Ralph,

I'm so sorry to hear about Bubba, though I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Bubba, I can certainly understand the sorrow. If our pets could live on our love for them, they would live forever. Wouldn't that be wonderful. I know I still miss Beauty and Austin and Channing , they were our 2 border collies and a st. bernard. Now we have Lucy and Lumpy who pretty much rule the roost around here. I love them most of the time. Okay all the time. I just yell at them because I'm pretty sure they're deaf. At least that's what I tell myself when they refuse to come or go or sit or stop barking. I think they're perfect. Most of the time.

We have started planting, so things are somewhat hectic. Home is all planted and I disked up at the sheep farm today. If it's not going to rain I'll probably be back up there tomorrow. David will plant what I disked today, tonight when he gets home. The weather is so unpredictable and he would rather not disk the ground unless he can plant it before it rains. We are planting only soybeans this year. I have a feeling I'll be living in the combine this fall.

How have you two been doing. I've been following your blog so I know about Ralph showing off at the eye doctors and about you behind the darn garbage truck. I'm so glad you didn't say I was behind this farmer driving down the road tying up traffic. HaHa! Your blog is a wonderful thing for me. I so enjoy hearing your stories. It really is a wonderful life that we live and Thank You for sharing yours with me. I consider you two of my dearest friends.

Well, no rest for the wicked (I must have been very bad in a previous life) I'm off to check on dinner and move the tractor out of the middle of the driveway.

Have a wonderful evening. beth

Bubba

This is in memory of our Grand-Dog, Bubba. Saturday, May 2, 2009

Bubba belonged to the Grubbs Family, Tim, Kathy, Kyle, Kasey and Tori

Bubba has given us many years of unconditional love and play-time.
Even though he was just a little guy he was big in our hearts and had no fear from those who were bigger then him in size.
We enjoyed having him at our house for his vacation time when his family was away.
He gave us exercise when we took him on his walks. He would hold his head high and lead the way.
Bubba had his own way of communicating with his little rrrrrrrruf. Somehow you always knew what he wanted.
Bubba the girls, Annie and Jodi, are waiting for you.

Bubba, we will miss you.

Thought for the Day

If your troubles are deep-seated, try
kneeling.

"Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry
come to You." Psalm 102:1

Thank you Lord!

A beautiful day today. Thank you Lord!
Made up 4 rhubarb pies for the freezer and some rhubarb sauce for grandma to put on ice cream, pancakes , french toast and anything else I could think of. Can you tell I love rhubarb?

This evening our neighbor Bob is taking Grandpa and I out for a swiss steak dinner. Yum! AND NO DISHES! Hurrah!

Our Amish neighbor brought over some fruit pizza today. It's not your typical pizza. The crust is more like a cookie then the cream cheese filling topped with strawberries, kiwi, grapes, and pineapple. We live in the BEST neighborhood. Thank you Lord!

Aaron

Today our grandson, Aaron, graduates from Basic Training in the U.S. Army Corps/Engineers. Congratulations Aaron.

Today is a big day in our little Village of Garrettsville. It's their annual Garage Sale Day. There are over 200 families that are participating. Grandma should be having one but not this year.

Yesterday was an interesting day for me. I had to see the doctor for a Blood Pressure check up. Wellllll! I was running late and happened to get behind a garbage truck that stopped at every couple houses. Did I fail to say I was on a state highway with double yellow lines and no passing. Needless to say my pressure was extremely high. So it's another trip to the doctors next month.

You all have a good weekend.
